Job Description

Overview

The Material Handler position will load and unload trucks with various products as specified. Assist in scheduling truck loading and unloading, assist in palletizing area, and inspect inbound pallets. This position may perform minimal maintenance duties as directed by supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Process all incoming and outgoing loads of finished product, accurately perform pallet counts, and inspect pallets for damage in a timely manner. Immediately notify plant management of any problems or errors in a clear and effective manner.
  • Assist in pulling orders, staging orders on dock, and loading products for shipment. Will operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other material handling equipment to load and unload incoming raw materials and outgoing finished products.
  • Assist Quality Assurance Inspectors with pulling both frozen and fresh raw materials for sampling, testing, and verification as needed.
  • Assist in palletizing area with inbound loads and manual stack off when necessary.
  • Maintain area conditions and safety.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks in a timely manner. Responsible for identifying and reporting operational issues to management.
  • Required to accurately complete assigned daily paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic math skills.
  • General computer knowledge and proficiency.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel is preferred.

  • Ability to think clearly, communicate, and direct sequenced instructions to multiple parties.
  • Proven organization and management skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask.

  • Willing and able to ask questions about unfamiliar tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, in both written and verbal form.
  • Must have regular and punctual attendance.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 60 lbs.
  • This position requires walking, standing, climbing, bending, reaching, and handling.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, including weekends.

Experience:  Minimum of 1 year of freezer experience or equivalent is preferred.
Education:  High School diploma or equivalent, or verifiable ability to perform essential job functions.
